When I get ready to pick tomatoes to sell, I always gather them in the early morning, before the produce stand opens up and before it gets really hot.
We have a number of regular tomatoe plants that are doing well, and we have tons of cherry tomatoes and grape tomatoes. Way too many in fact. Most people want the regular tomatoes for sandwiches, etc.
Next year we won’t grow as many cherry and grape tomatoes. Anyway, as I was picking the other day, I happened to look up at the top of the cages, and saw some terrific spider webs. I came back into the house, got my camera and I’m including a picture. The web was covered with dew drops and looked spectacular. I hope you can see the web – should have taken the picture with something behind it, so you would get the really great detail. And yes, the spider web is entirely inside the cage.
Also, the grape tomatoe plants, which are Santas – grow very tall. I’ve included a picture of just how tall. I’m 5’5″ and the plant towers over me!
Of course, right now I’m picking the grape tomatoes at waste level and slightly higher. Guess I’ll have to get a ladder, lol, for the higher ones!!
We continue to have very hot weather and no rain. The weather channel keeps telling us that we have a 20-40% chance of rain each day – but we’ve not seen a drop yet! Don’t know how much longer our corn will last without rain.
