Day 5 stay in New York

The morning was chilly – but we were bundled up in the hotel room, with the thermostat about 75. It never registered the real temp, and often I sleep in my bathrobe, as the blanket on the bed is very thin. Mom has 2 blankets on the sofa bed – we requested an extra one.

I got up, wrote in my blog, answered email, checked orders, and waited for Mom to awaken, so we could go down to breakfast.

Today is going to be a lazy day. My brother has a dentist appt, his daughter has both a dr appt and dentist appt. With only one car, he and my sister-in-law are going to have to be running all day. So we really don’t have anything special planned.

I do need to get another paperback book, as the 2nd book I brought with me, I’ve already read. So during the day I asked my brother to take me somewhere, where I could pick one up.

We arranged for my brother to pick us up around lunchtime, and take us back to his house for lunch and a quiet afternoon.

When his wife returned with the car, my brother and I left and went to the grocery store – actually Trader Joes – to get some things, and then a drug store nearby, where I picked up a book to read on the plane. I’ve never been to Trader Joes, and it was rather small. The drug store had a small selection of books, and I picked up one that looked interesting. At least it will keep my attention on the plane.

We had dinner, and then an early evening back to the hotel. We needed to get up at 7am, to get ready for the return home. I think it was still about 10:30 when I went to bed.

All in all, the stay and visit has been enjoyable, but I’m ready to go home – miss my DH, and miss my cats and routine.
