My Storage Bldg is here!!

My workroom and closets – 2 of them – are filled to over flowing. As I expand Sandi’s T’s – adding new product lines, I’m at a loss where to store everything.

I’ve placed the rubbermaid containers of blank sweatshirts on the treadmill in the office. I’ll have to really get motivated, if I want to walk on the treadmill!

In the meantime, over half of one of the long closets is filled with shipping supplies – boxes and padded envelopes of various sizes, and I have to order more sizes to accommodate the new products.

Adding on a storage room at the far end of the house is not an option – we are now retired, and are living on a fixed income, and our produce business is still not providing an adequate increase.

I’m not sure where the idea came from, but I mentioned getting a storage building to house my shipping supplies as well as supplies for the produce stand. And DH went for it! Ok, so we went on Sunday to look at the buildings available at our local storage building company, and found a couple that would work – I opted for the 8×10 – to give me more area for storage than the 8×8. I wanted to give me enough room, not only to store but also to work with – in packing larger orders as well as being able to walk into the bldg!

Monday morning, we went in and bought the bldg I wanted, and had it delivered yesterday afternoon. The following photos showcase the event! I went crazy with my camera, but I’ve provided the ones that were really significant.

My bldg is delivered on the truck – as you can see we have a long driveway – he’s not close to the gate yet!

You can see what the front of the bldg looks like – love the windows.

This the back of the bldg. It’s painted all in white – will look perfect next to my house – which has white siding.

Backing the trailer through the gate.

p1010219
Tilting the trailer up so the bldg will slide down to the ground – I held my breath – has to be built well – won’t fall apart – right?

Bldg is tilted up a little so that pvc pipes can be placed under bldg to be able to manipulate it along the ground.

Finally in place! Should I add curtains??

New shelf now in place – runs across the back (10 feet) plenty of storage area underneath, and on top – can even work on that shelf. DH asked if I want to have a couple of more shelves – maybe one under a window for working, and another over the main one – on top for packing stuff – like tape, etc. Not sure at this point – I need to start loading the bldg first to see how everything is going to fit.

I’ll be starting to load it over the weekend. Today I have more pages to add to my website, and tomorrow a friend and I are going to Toys R Us for me to find a life size doll for taking pictures of children’s crocheted hats, some more yarn at a couple of places, and just shopping in general.

Once I have things stored in my bldg (don’t you like how I take ownership?) I’ll take some more pics.

See ya later!

Your new little building looks perfect on your property! And yes put some cute curtians in the windows too. I think I’m so jealous! I’d love to have a little building like that but I’d need to insulate and run electric to it. Please show pictures of how you set it up. I love to see other people’s workspaces. Congrats and best wishes!
