If you have been keeping up with my posts – you know that I have just started felting. Wait until you see my new wool yarn stash…
The first bowl I made, as too flimsy because I only used one strand of yarn.
The 2nd bowl I made, I used 2 strands of patons wool yarn, and that was with a natural tweed and a blue tweed yarn. It also used double crochet stitches. It was so cute!
Both of the above bowls were felted in the washing machine using 10 water for 3 cycles and just the bowls in the water.
The new bowl I want to show you today, was made with the same 2 colors of wool yarn, made slightly bigger – more stitches, and made using single crochet stitches.
I felted this new bowl in the washing machine – using 6 tennis balls to give it good agitation – for 3 cycles. And you should have seen me when I took it out of the washer – I was so excited the way it looked.
It was round – and someone had mentioned how to make a square bowl – so that’s what I did!!
Now for the unveiling – the first selection of pictures are a before look.
The first picture is of the before bowl, the 2nd of the inside of the before bowl. I added a scalloped edge with just the blue tweed yarn – 2 strands.

The first picture is of the new square bowl, the second picture a better view to show how it’s square and then the 3rd picture is a view of the inside.

I was so excited with the way this new bowl turned out, I had to call my neighbor, who is also a crafter and tell her all about it!
My new square bowl is still too wet to list – just did this yesterday. I just need to order packing boxes, and I’ll be ready to list my first salable bowl.
I’ve ordered rose, black, orange, red, and a few other colors of wool yarn – to see how they work up. Want to make a set for fall, Halloween, and Christmas. I know, take my time – I’m so excited I want to get started on them right away!!
Hope you enjoy my new bowls, and thanks to a number of members of my Etsytwitter Team for sharing their experiences.
Till next time.
Sandi
