A good meal had by all

My wishes today is that you and your family celebrated Thanksgiving in the way you wanted.

Knowing that I had so much to cook for the group that was coming, I cooked the sweet potatoes and green bean casserole on Wednesday.

Early Thursday morning, I started getting the turkey ready. It took near 20 minutes to thaw the neck and other innards, to get them out of the turkey – what fun.

Then into the oven at 4:25 for about 45 minutes to brown a little and then covered with tin foil in a 3:25 oven to cook for the rest of the time.

I made waldorf salad, and then stuffing later in the morning. Everything I cooked on Wednesday would have to be rewarmed in the microwave. I have a small oven and a microwave. Had I thought more about it – when we had the house built I would have chosen to have a double oven – oh, well it’s too late for that, and this shifing and such only happens 3 or 4 times a year.

As I was wandering around the house as items were cooking and reheating, I turned the corner into the living room from the bedrooms, briskly walking across the room, and BAM – struck my foot and toe against the coffee table – the table that has been in the living room for the last several years. DUH. Now as I am running around trying to get everything done – my toe is turning black and blue and my foot is trobbing! My foot actually looks worse than this picture

foot

The kids and grandkids started arriving at about 12:30 with dinner to be at 2pm. Trying to make sure everything is ok, with a sore foot – took a lot of expert maneuvering – especially trying to keep the kids from banging into me as they played.

After everyone had eaten, I took an ice pack and placed it on my foot – maybe a little late, but it sure did numb it.

Later in the evening, DH filled a basin with cold water, put an ice pack in it – and told me to soak!!

Today, Friday, it still looks horrible – but I’m not limping as badly as yesterday, so perhaps my foot isn’t broken. I’m sure the toe it – but alas nothing can be done about that! I wonder how long it will be, before I do something like that again. I’m accident prone – and the main thoughts I’ve had over the last 2 days, was to make sure that I didn’t slice a finger while I was cutting onions and celery for the stuffing – LOL.
