I just got back from a one week vacation in Jamaica. My daughter won the trip and took me with her. We stayed at a Sandals resort. Took tours, ate, swam in the pool, ate, went on a glass bottom boat, ate, went up into the mountains, ate. Can you tell what I liked about Jamaica. Actually the food was really great and you never went hungry. The staff was there to answer your every question and make sure your every need was taken care of. We had a balcony, and I would sit out there in the morning having my coffee, while my daughter slept in. It was great.

Thinking about this weeks’ blog carnival subject – which actually was my idea – made me think back to the last really great vacation I took. It over 10 years ago. My Mom and I went to Europe for 2 weeks. My youngest daughter and her husband were stationed in Germany. So Mom and I flew into Amsterdam, and toured and visited for 2 weeks. The best part of that vacation was that we walked everywhere. We ate good food, and there were little coffee shops all over. We had a terrific time. The time of the year was April, so it was chilly – but what a way to spend special time with Mom.

So which vacation was the best. Well, if I could combine the walking with the warm weather – that’s what I would opt for.  While I loved the warm weather of Jamaica, I kind of missed being able to walk everywhere to see things.  And I didn’t find any walking tours in Jamaica. There may have been but my daughter is unable to walk for long distances, so even if there were any of that kind of tour around – I would not have wanted to do it without my daughter.
