Speaking of Holiday Gift Ideas

Recently I answered an ad from My Shopping Connection about handmade items to be featured in a Holiday Gift Guide.

I sent in a sample of my crocheted chokers and a sample of my coffee cozies. There were no guarantees that I would be included. And that was ok – it was a way of getting exposure as well as figuring out what might be of interest.

Well, this weekend I got an email telling me that the Guide was now online and available for shoppers to check out. Here is the link to the guide!

In checking out the guide I found that my crocheted choker is featured!

Could Christmas be just around the corner?

Christmas always has a way of sneaking up on me! I looked at a counter graphic and found that Christmas is 52 days away. Much closer than I thought.

What are your concerns about Christmas? What kind of gift can I give that won’t break the bank? How will I wrap it? How can I wrap the gift, without having all the wrapping thrown out.

Today, I’d like to make some recommendations!

Let’s start with what kind of gift you can give that won’t be really expensive. With the trend turning back to handmade and handcrafted items, rather than store bought, I’d like to recommend Etsy for your Christmas shopping. And you can shop from home – save gas!

Not familiar with Etsy? Your place to buy all things handmade. Etsy offers just about anything you are looking for in the way of a gift for that special someone.

My Etsy Shop is Handmade By Sandi where I offer a variety of crocheted items, sewn items and jewelry. And custom orders are welcomed!

Do you know someone who loves Starbucks? Use one of these crocheted coffee cozies – replace the cardboard sleeve. Helps to keep the coffee hot and keep your hands cool! A variety of colors are available – just the coffee cozy or some are embellished like this one with flowers.

My Sneak Attack Purchases

Normally, I would be writing about our Shop of the Week. But my shop Handmade By Sandi is being featured as the shop of the week and my Etsytwitter team leader has written such a glowing post (blushing), I don’t feel right tooting my own horn.

So today I decided to show you what I bought from the Sneak Attack shops that I visited last nite. Find out more about the Etsy Sneak Attack group!

The first shop I visited was Poz Art – Home of the Famous and Original “TIMI” – Tile Mini Magnets. and 2 sisters who decided to live our passion and dream. We love art and we wanted to become part of the Etsy community and sell our designs.

These tiny tile magnets all have cupckes on them – yummy!! And tiny magnets are all the rage right now!

The next shop I visited was venedaum123 This delightful shop offers rings made with vintage unusual buttons.

I love pink so this was perfect for my purchase!

The last shop I visited was Sweet Galaxy Another shop with a food theme – I found that I was getting hungry doing this shopping
Steffi from Puerto Rico studies English Literature at the University there and creates jewelry out of polymer clay, beads and wires in her freetime.

Now don’t get me wrong – I’m on a budget like everyone else. So when I started doing Sneak Attacks a almost 3 weeks ago, I went into it – to help other Etsy shops as well as get a few things that I could use for birthday and Christmas gifts. And maybe my buying is coming to an end – unless it’s really something I have to have

The point I’m trying to make here – is that there are numerous ways to support our Etsy shops! Do a blog post about shops you see being Sneak Attacked – that will help give them a little bit of exposure. Tweet about the Sneak Attack group – and provide the nudge for others to take part.

It’s kind of like helping your community. You may not know the people being helped, but it’s a way of giving back and the satisfaction of knowing that you helped someone really makes a difference.

What to tackle first

My to do list is getting longer and longer – again! I have several new product lines that I want to add. I have some more collections that I need to add to the Christmas section… almost too late for this year. Never did get that Christmas Shirt page done – oh well, it will work for next year.

I made some really cute fabric coasters that I want to put on Etsy. Just need to wrap some raffia around them and take pictures.

I have a couple of sweatshirts to make for orders.

I have a child’s valentine tee shirt to make and have a button to glue onto an adult valentine shirt – adding some of my designs to another gift site.

Just ordered some more peaches and creme yarn for crocheted dishcloths – that’s the only kind I use and I really like the feel and texture. That’s checked off my list lol

My work room is a total mess! I need to straighten it up so I can take pics and make the 2 sweatshirts. Can’t even get to my table to start!

Want to add some more tee shirts to Etsy – but I need to press the shirts and take pics…

41 Days until Christmas

Time is counting down quickly! I wanted to let you know about a place to see and purchase some really unique jewelry, bracelets, necklaces and pendants!

A special friend of mine, Sue Jensen, has some distinctly unique designs on her Etsy site.

I knew that she had been working on cuff bracelets – something I hadn’t seen before.

but when I went to her site to see what else she had, I noticed that she has added some delightful glass pendants. These look elegant at a very affordable price.

43 Days Until Christmas

Boy, time has really flown this year – don’t they say that the older you get the faster it flies?

Many of the items that are carried by Sandi’s T’s are available for Christmas, for yourself or for Christmas gifts, if ordered no later than the 15th of December. However, if you plan on ordering a custom shirt from us, it might be better to have it ordered by the 1st of December. Custom shirts take a little longer to make, it also depends on how many custom shirts we have to make before the end of November.

We have a number of Heritage Lace Christmas items that are available – many of them will be retiring at the end of December, to make room for all of the new designs and patterns that Heritage Lace is coming out with in 2009. So now is a great time to stock up!

I am currently working on a Christmas Wreath design that can be made on a tee shirt or sweatshirt. I had hopes to have them done by today, but every time I get ready to go to the sewing machine, my cat Orville, decides that’s the time he wants to curl up in my lap! I love my cat, so I really need to work on the sewing when he’s asleep.

I’m also working on a Christmas Present design. That one is just in the planning stages. Oh, well – maybe that one will be ready for next Christmas…

I also have Christmas earrings available. As soon as I can get the photos on line, I’ll post them. Of course, you can see I have a problem with timing. I should really be making Christmas items 6 months in advance – instead of at the last minute!!
