More Treasuries

Oh, I love treasuries. I wish I had more time so that I could create some. Used to do it and waiting for the treasury clock to click down to be able to snag one was exciting! But I find that there are just not enough minutes in the day to get done all that I want to!

I find that being included in a treasury is just as exciting. It’s interesting to see the different themes that are created, and the items that are put together for a collection. The artists whose items are included are wonderful. The curator of the treasury are artistic as well, being able to put together items that blend well.

Recently I was notified that I had been included in several treasuries – so great!

What are my goals?

I belong to a great group – Etsybloggers Street Team, and one of the things we do each month, is write about a particular subject. This week – the subject is What are you goals? Short term, long term? It’s up to you.

Before today, I would have told you that my short term goal is to finish adding new items to my website.

I have an online website Sandi’s T’s and I have a large variety of high quality products that I sell.

Some of the companies I represent are:
Heritage Lace – the finest lace curtains and table linens made in the US
Victorian Heart – adorable quilted handbags
Popular Creations – Tammy’s Closet Jewelry Stands
Coynes – Keith Kimberlin, Harold Feinstein and Williraye Studio

Many of these companies have introduced new products that I am currently adding to what I already carry.

Yesterday, I got some new brochures from Heritage Lace and I’m really excited about add their new items as well.

Remember I mentioned at the beginning of this post that adding these new products would have been my short term goal?

Well, I upgraded my wordpress blog software today – I host my own blog – and now all of my images are missing! I have posted a thread in the forum, and hopefully someone will come up with a way to resolve this issue. And I apologize in advance – if you are unable to see the images in some of my most recent posts.

So my ‘current’ short term goal is to get that resolved.

As far as a long term goal is concerned… I’m already 64 and many of my long term goals – such as getting an education (graduated in 1992), retiring from a ‘real’ job (did that in 2006), surviving cancer (surgery, etc in 2006 – 3 year mark now), and having my own business (started by doing craft shows in 1995) have all come true. What’s left? Well, I would really like to see my online business take off. Oh, don’t get me wrong. I love what I do, and love that each year my number of sales has increased – and I don’t think that I want to get into a stressful situation when I’m ‘working’ 50-60 hours a week on my business, but I would like to see it increase each year so that our retirement income is adequately supplemented!

Now you ask – ok if you want your online business to really take off – what are you doing to see that happen.

#1 Adding more high quality products that show up in the search engines
#2 Updating my content so that search engines can find my website quickly
(I have a great content writer – Linda Lewis – and her skills have really made a difference)
#3 Having informative and interesting newsletters – again Linda is doing those
#4 Having giveaways to attract new customers
#5 Working on my website, to make pages load faster
#6 Making the purchase experience easier for the customers (not having the prodyuct pages be so long that they have to constantly scroll is what I am working on now – also working on eliminating the need for javascript which can slow down the load of a page)

I come from a background of computer programming so working on my website is a no brainer – it’s what I love to do. And hopefully I can continue to do what I love for a long time!

My Journal Swap Mate

I belong to a terrific group called Etsybloggers Street Team. A couple of months ago, we decided to do a journal swap. We could make a journal ourselves or have one made by someone else.

And then we were to fill this journal with bits and pieces of artwork, information about ourselves and things about our swap mate. Actually we were provided with a series of questions/subjects that we were to use, and what we said or did for each was up to us. There were 31 questions/subjects in all. All to be written in March.

I started by looking for someone in our group who made journals, as that’s not something I’ve ever attempted to do – I don’t work with paper products at all. I found one and had it made – I won’t show you just yet – as I don’t want to spoil the surprise for my swap mate.

And who is my swap mate? Nina from Mamas Little Treasures and Gossamer Wing Studio

#23 is to write a blog about a favorite item in your mate’s shop. Write the URL in the journal and explain why you chose it. Since this is the 31st of March – you’d think I’d be out of time. But we were able to skip around – so actually this is the last entry I need to make, and then I can ship it to Nina.

I had a really hard time deciding which item to pick from Nina’s shops, to write about.

Because I sew a lot, I love to use pin cushions – but I can tell you right away – this is not a pin cushion that I would subject to everyday use. It is way too pretty for that. This Ivory and Jade Teacup Pincushion is made using a tea cup, with rhinestones and pearls – can’t you just imagine this sitting on your dresser or vanity – just to be able to look at every day? I love the ribbon that Nina used on this!

I can’t think of a better gift that you could give someone who collects tea cups, pin cushions, pearls or just loves to sew!

This is our blog carnival – What’s the best vacation your ever had?

I just got back from a one week vacation in Jamaica. My daughter won the trip and took me with her. We stayed at a Sandals resort. Took tours, ate, swam in the pool, ate, went on a glass bottom boat, ate, went up into the mountains, ate. Can you tell what I liked about Jamaica. Actually the food was really great and you never went hungry. The staff was there to answer your every question and make sure your every need was taken care of. We had a balcony, and I would sit out there in the morning having my coffee, while my daughter slept in. It was great.

Thinking about this weeks’ blog carnival subject – which actually was my idea – made me think back to the last really great vacation I took. It over 10 years ago. My Mom and I went to Europe for 2 weeks. My youngest daughter and her husband were stationed in Germany. So Mom and I flew into Amsterdam, and toured and visited for 2 weeks. The best part of that vacation was that we walked everywhere. We ate good food, and there were little coffee shops all over. We had a terrific time. The time of the year was April, so it was chilly – but what a way to spend special time with Mom.

So which vacation was the best. Well, if I could combine the walking with the warm weather – that’s what I would opt for. While I loved the warm weather of Jamaica, I kind of missed being able to walk everywhere to see things. And I didn’t find any walking tours in Jamaica. There may have been but my daughter is unable to walk for long distances, so even if there were any of that kind of tour around – I would not have wanted to do it without my daughter.

Perhaps next time.

Featured EtsyBlogger – The Fab Miss B

This month’s featured EtsyBlogger is Becky who is called ‘thefabmissb’ Actually that’s the name of one of her shops.

Let me tell you about The Fab Miss B’s shop. Becky is dedicated to finding unique vintage items for you and your home. I love this Mini Painted Fairy Furniture, a tiny set of hand painted doll furniture that includes a little table and two itsy bitsy chairs- Perfect for a fairy tea party!

Featured Etsyblogger – Designs by Vanessa

Have you ever thought about putting cupcakes on a card? Kind of messy huh? Well, you won’t think so when you see this adorable greeting card from Designs By Vanessa a member of our Etsyblogger Street Team and our Featured Etsyblogger for September.

This is actually a 3 card set -

Adorable pink, yellow and orange cupcakes hand cut from acid-free card stock are mounted onto acid-free white cards. Tiny yellow felt hearts top the cupcakes. The inside is hand stamped with the phrase “Hello Cupcake”.

Oh my gosh, how cute is that!
