Vintage items, pin cushions and yarn – what more can you ask for??

We had lots of fun at our sneak attack yesterday, sponsored by Susanne from Sussesspindehjrne, one of our European members. Because of the difference in time zones – our attack started at 3pm Etsy time. During the early part of the day, Susanne gave us clues as to who the victims might be. Many of the other members created treasuries from an assortment of shops that might have items the clues pertained to. All in fun, and a great way to see the bounty of creativity that Etsy showcases.

There were 3 ‘victims’ picked by Susanne, with an assortment of creations to choose from!

The 1st was GDiBiase1 featuring a variety of shabby chic and vintage items. I love little trinket holders like this one!

The 2nd was Sweet Onion Arts featuring adorable pin cushion rings. Ahhh flowers :D

The 3rd was Knit Crazy Forever featuring yarn in mini skeins, just perfect for little scarfs, wild striped socks and hexipuffs (little puffy pockets that you can sew together to make blankets, etc). Under the sea coloring on this yarn.

Enjoy your browsing and shopping in the shops of our latest ‘victims’. Then be sure to check out our Handmade Movement site for more information!

A member from the Golden State charms us with her Etsy picks

Wendy, from UUendy’s Crafty Corner, and one of our members from California, sponsored our sneak attack yesterday and delighted us with her pick of ‘victims’. Oh, the Etsy shops that Wendy selected were not really ‘victims’. They were chosen because they were relatively new, had little or no sales, and had items that she loved and was sure that other members would love as well.

The first was Cobblestone Creek Farm. Need I say more than FIBER!! With so many choices from this shop, is it any wonder that I’m having a hard time showing you my favorite! Let’s just say, I’d love to see this one spun into a luscious yarn.

The second was Serious Moon, adorable jewelry made from computer parts, like this brooch!

The third was Graceful Rose Soap Co Now you know this soap has got to smell so divine when using it!

You will find that there are new ‘victims’ selected for each sneak attack. It’s up to the sponsor to choose them. And with so many new shops joining Etsy – it’s often difficult to limit the selection (usually 2 or 3). Take a look at the creations from these shops and I’m sure you will see why Wendy selected them. And then check out our Handmade Movement site for our sneak attack schedule! You will be glad you did.

I was a co-sponsor yesterday for the sneak attack

Ros from Painted Memories by Ros was the sponsor yesterday for the sneak attack and because I’m an morning person, and she’s a night person – we sponsored together to have a terrific attack!

During the day, both Ros and I offered clues to the ‘victims’ we would introduce at 7pm. The clues were in the form of sentences describing a one word answer. They were fun to give, and most people got the clues correct! One of the fun parts of the day, was to see the shops that our members guessed being displayed in a treasury – shops relating to the clues that were so much fun to find!

We had 3 victims – each with a unique creation and completely different charming items for purchasing and viewing. The purpose of ‘attacking’ these shops is to provide visibility to the victims so that the Etsy community becomes aware of them and their work! With so many Etsy shops out there, it’s easy to be just one of the crowd instead of an individual with lots of talent.

Our first shop was Vintages Rente vintage items that the shop owner has found, many with the bottom decoupaged with fabric like this little dish which would be perfect for your rings – being just 2.5 inches in diameter.

Our second shop was Papa’s Candle Shoppe. We have very few Etsy shops that are run by men, so it was a delight to find this one. And because candles are so popular, we fell in love with them!

Our third shop was Welsh Dragon Ware Including earrings, key chains and a variety of oval and square glass tiles – like this

Which of these shops are your favorite? Browse through them and decide, or make them all your favorite! Be sure to visit our Handmade Movement site for more information about what we do, and when the next sneak attack will be so you too can come and join the fun and help new Etsy shops get a good start!
