The earrings pictured are made with the purple tagua nut slices. We use a silver plated ear wire for your comfort.

The tagua nut grows on a palm tree in the South American rain forests. The nut ranges in size from a cherry to a grapefruit and is very similar to the elephant ivory in texture, hardness and color, but unlike elephant ivory, the collection of the Tagua nuts does not involve the killing of the palm trees. The Tagua nuts are harvested once they fall to the ground. The palm tree continues to grown and produce more nuts the following year.
